yoga
We don’t use the body to get into a pose,
we use a pose to get into our body, into our self.
Yoga for me is one of the most compassionate and beautiful ways to really tune in, to be fully present and create space in my body and mind and allow myself to take a pause in whatever is happening in my life at the specific time to feel even the smallest feelings and emotions and move everything out in this marvelous self-exploring and self-expressive moving meditation. It is a time and space where everything becomes clear in the wider context, a time and space where I am free to be unapologetically myself and learn to appreciate and love every aspect of being me, of life, and of others.
Practicing honest self-exploration also means appreciating how in different days our needs differ as well. We need both Yin ang Yang, passive and active to stay balanced. Sometimes a vigorous and strong practice is what’s needed to tune into our strength and shake away anything excessive we carry around, whereas at other times what we really need is stillness and softness - staying present and tuning in. In my teaching I therefore wish to offer a space for both.
yin
In contrast to the higher-pace yang style practices, yin-style yoga enables us to slow down. The main focus on a physical level is on deeper connective tissues - joints, bones, ligaments and fascia which tend to tighten as we age and collect both physical and emotional tension. Traditionally based on Chinese medicine, these long-held poses aim to release energy blockages in the energy pathways (meridians) in our bodies, enabling the energy Qi to flow freely to our organs.
On a more emotional level, Yin-style yoga practices enable us to tune inwards. The close-to-the-ground poses are held for some minutes, enabling to make the practice more meditative - to really release into the shapes and be completely present in our bodies, minds and emotions, to be less reactive and more of an observer with whatever arises, both on and off the mat. These slow practices really support a healthy nervous system, enabling us to switch off from the fight-or-flight stress mode and activate the parasympathetic nervous systems sending our body a signal to rest.

Online yoga classes - Yoga anytime anywhere
Are you far away from studios or just don’t have enough time to make it to full-length studio classes regularly enough?
I’ve put together a beautiful online yoga universe which can serve you both as a supplement to longer studio classes or as a basis for your own practice, especially if you don’t have too much time in your hands.
Every Monday a new pre-recorded class will be added to the page in different lengths and intensities of around 10-40 minutes. Additionally there’s a 40min livestream class at least once a month, and an additional class such as self-massage, breathing, pose breakdown, sound meditation etc, totalling to 6 new classes every month, plus an ever expanding library of 200+ classes for you to practice from. All this for a very affordable price of less than one single yoga class a month!

OFFICE YOGA AT YOUR WORKPLACE
Most of us sit at our desks over 8 hours every day, resulting in a weak back-body which contributes to achey lower-and upper backs, with a leaning-forward unoptimal posture leading to rounded shoulders, tense necks and headaches, not even mentioning the stress causing us a racing heard and unregulated nervous system.
I teach yoga at several companies in Copenhagen where we little by little address these physical and emotional issues, learn how to stretch the body ourselves or take a minute or two in the middle of the working day to calm the head, heart and nervous system.
The classes can be at any length (usually 30 or 45 min) and can either be a lunchbreak stretch without a designated room, mats or need to change clothes. Or we can do a longer, more classic session on mats.
I absolutely love teaching these classes so do contact me via kika@kikayoga.dk if this would be something you’d like to have at your workplace!

“I am so grateful that I found Kika’s yoga classes. Practising regularly with her has made me fall completely in love with yoga. It has brought me so much peace, particularly when I’ve felt really overwhelmed. I love the way she teaches - her classes range from more intense and dynamic ones to relaxing yin-style ones. I’ve never had a yoga teacher who I’ve connected with on such an emotional level before - Kika offers her attention and love to each and every one of her students. She radiates positive energy, and brings a smile to my face every time I attend a class.!

“I first met Kika when looking for a sport to complement my climbing training. But I found so much more: for the first time I found a yoga instructor who really inspired my passion for yoga- both as a sportive challenge and as a calming, self-discovering journey.”
